About Motty

My first line of code for a sophisticated network security project was written back in the late 1980’s, way before Tim Berners-Lee, has published his URL / DNS invention and made the Internet accessible for the 2.5 Billion people that are accessing it every day today. This line of code started a career path of more than 25 years in Software Engineering, management, and information security.

Over these past twenty something years, me and the rest of the Gen Xers that specialized in information security have saw the shift from closed systems and focusing heavily on encryption development, to Network Security, Data-center security and then the sophisticated Advanced Persistent Threats, the move to the cloud and now the Internet of Things and Operational Technology vs. Information Technology. Well, I can proudly say I dealt with them all. Whether it is the Managed Security Service Providers (MSSPs) market and cloud security, Identity and Access Management, mobile security or good-old encryption and key-management, all of these items, collectively known as cyber-security, are my hobby, my career-path and my passion.

The first line of code mentioned at the beginning was written for one of the Israeli Army (IDF) elite technological units (and no, it was not 8200, apparently there are other units as good as, though less famous than 8200). Later, moving to managerial engineering positions and over the last 18 years to Product Management, business and executive positons, at different info-security solution vendors.

OK, you ask may yourself so what the issue with writing a blog? Apparently it was there all time long. I’ve been writing ever since I can remember. Whether it was an essay for a course in collage, a rock-concert review for the weekend’s paper (back at the early 90’s), a technical white-paper for a customer, or, and most recently, blogging for the companies I worked for (over the past 4 years that were SafeNet and Radware). Funny enough, for the first time I’m writing with no editorial calendars, release schedule, or this little guy (some call him “the corporate conscience”) that makes sure that I’m not pissing off anyone from management, customers or regulators. Free at last.

This site presents my humble view on current topics and news stories in the network security and data protection areas.
